Meet Bortirsher Obidov, Rising Super Middleweight Prospect

Rising Uzbekistan amateur champion Bortirsher Obidov has turned professional and is looking for a promoter. In the meanwhile, Obidov, now living in Florida and trained by Danny Soto, remains undefeated as a professional at 1-0-1. On July 17, 2015, Obidov defeated unbeaten prospect Christopher Brooker at Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, by four round split decision, overcoming the promoter’s fighter, the hometown disadvantage, and a corner on his left eye due to an accidental headbutt.
Real Combat Media: “How do you like America?”
Obidov: “I like America good.”
Real Combat Media: “What did you think of Brooker, you last opponent?”
Obidov: “He was a good strong fighter, not one hundred percent technical. He depended a lot on his power.”
Real Combat Media: “How did you beat Brooker?”
Obidov: “With left hooks and left jabs.”
Real Combat Media: “How did you learn to hit with superior power?”
Obidov: “I worked a lot on power training, so I am stronger than my opponents.”
Real Combat Media: “Have any promoters offered to sign you yet?”
Obidov: “It’s early in my career in the United States. Promoters have been inquiring about me.”
Real Combat Media: “What is it like traveling so far away from your home in Europe, then having to fight in someone else’s backyard?”
Obidov: “you have got to have all the tools and do the hard work. That’s how I win.”
Real Combat Media: “What is your goal as a pro boxer?”
Obidov: “I want to be the world champion at 160 pounds middleweight and 168 pounds super middleweight.”
Real Combat Media: “When will you fight next?”
Obidov: “As soon as the eye stitches come out (from the accidental head butt).:
Real Combat Media: “How do feel otherwise about your experiences fighting in America? What is your immediate dream?”
Obidov: “I’m good. I would like to fight on (the next USA Showtime card on) ShoBox.”
