Mauricio Herrera vs Hank Lundy
Former WBA interim light welterweight champ Mauricio Herrera (22-5, 7 KOs) won a hard fought battle against Hank Lundy (25-5, 12 KOs) on Saturday night, beating him by a 5 round majority technical decision to win the vacant NABF light welterweight title at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California.
Herrera suffered cuts in both the 1st and 5th rounds. The fight went to the scorecards in the 5th. The final judges’ scores were 48-47, 48-47 and 48-48.
Herrera got the better of Lundy with combinations, and power shots to the inside and outside of Lundy, . Herrera was able to tie Lundy up when he needed to in order to keep him from getting his punches off.
Post fight Quotes:
Mauricio Herrera
“He stung me in the first round and I kind of lost focus. I started finding my momentum as the rounds went on. But, the issue with the cut really made the fight lose its rhythm and momentum. I can’t see how deep the cut is but I feel physically fine and could have kept going. I am in good condition and was landing good body shots and was wearing him down.”
Hank Lundy
“You saw it. He couldn’t handle my speed, my power or my skills so he was holding and doing a bunch of other dirty stuff. I know I won the fight. And, I was ready to take him out if it kept going.”

Golden Boy Promotions’ Irish star Jason Quigley,(7-0, 7KOs), ran right through his opponent in the super middleweight decision, Tom Howard,(8-4,4 KOs) winning the referee’s stoppage at 1:21 of the second round in a six-round fight. Quigley put his opponent to rest with a right hook that sent Howard backing into the ropes. Although Howard picked himself up for some extra beatings, the referee stepped in to wave the fight over immediately after Quigley landed a follow up left, right hook combination that rocked Howard sealing an impressive win for the Irish native.
Ivan Delgado,(6-0-1, 2KOs), remained unbeaten with a decision win over Angel Albelo,(4-8-3, 1 KO), in a six round lightweight bout. Albelo was awesome coming forward and attacking Delgado in spots throughout the fight, but Delgado was the more accurate fighter, punctuating his effort with a right uppercut in the final round that wobbled Albelo.
