Unbeaten middleweight prospect Liam Desmond gets Chris Jenkinson test on June 20

Undefeated Essex boxer, Liam Desmond 4-0 will get a tough test on June 20th at Grays Civic Hall when he takes on the seasoned Chris Jenkins on 8-18-2 on a Carl Greaves Promotions show.

The 21-year-old middleweight from Corringham, Essex commented on the step up, “I feel ready and I can’t wait to do the rounds, I’ve been training really hard for it.”

The step up in class for Desmond goes hand-in-hand with an increase in rounds as he enters into his first six round contest on his fifth professional fight.

The 32-year-old traveling opponent from Bolton, Chris Jenkinson, certainly has the upper hand where experience is concerned, participating in four title fights in the past two years and collecting the International Masters middleweight title and International Masters Silver light-middleweight title in the process.

The qualified Lankyhas also upset young prospects before namely when he stopped an unbeaten Adam Battle in three rounds at Bluewater’s newly built ‘Glow’ arena in Kent in November 2013.

Desmond commented on his forthcoming opponent, “He’s been in with one of the Upton boys recently and he’s had some good experience, obviously winning a few titles. He’s beaten Nicky Jenman and Adam Battle before but I’ve not seen much of him though.”

He continued to say, “I’m very confident, I only think about winning and I want to put on a good show. My first four wins have given me more confidence but I will take it as it comes.”

The 6ft 2” tall middleweight, Liam Desmond recently moved up to 4-0on March 14thafter defeating Rob Brown 1-1at the same setting for all of his pro fights to date, the Civic Hall, Grays.

That previous win marked the former West Ham ABC amateur’s first full year in the professional ranks, he said of his debut year,“I’ve settled in really good now, each fight I’ve improved and I’m really enjoying it so I really can’t complain at all with my first year.I haven’t rushed the amount of fights but I’ve been regular enough.”
