Sparta Combat League returns on February 7 on GFL with “A Striker’s Quest IV”, a stacked Muay Thai card from the Grizzly Rose in Denver, Colorado. This event promises to be full speed from bell to bell as some of the best strikers in the Rockies will step into the ring to square off against each other.
In a 155 lb title fight, LT Nelson takes on Cody Pfister. Both fighters are highly ranked MMA athletes and bring their well-rounded games into the ring for a Muay Thai battle. Nelson is an accurate striker who picks his spots to engage and usually is able to find an opening in his opponent’s defense without leaving himself open to counter attacks. Csay mixes up his strikes well and likes to attack the body as well as the head. Pfister is a vet to the sport and has defeated some of the top fighters during his MMA and Muay Thai career. Pfister has fists of iron with KO power in each hand and a granite jaw to match. Look for Pfister to stand in the pocket and trade with Nelson as he is just as accurate and capable of a fighter. Expect a very technical matchup from these two athletes.
In other action, in a heavyweight bout, Jason Lee battles Erick Kapp. Lee is strong in the clinch and has some of the best knees in the division. Lee will want to land strikes from a distance and outwork Kapp in the ring. Lee needs to win the exchanges and also put together a huge volume punching advantage and try to tee off on Kapp as Kapp closes the distance. Lee is battle tested and has always been a tough matchup for anyone because of his grit and determination. Kapp is a heavy hitter and brings KO power into the ring with both hands and feet. Kapp will have the size advantage and look to use that early and often by walking Lee into a corner and wearing on him with his size. Look for Kapp to come out with his hands up, chin down and throwing fists of fury.
Sparta Combat League is sure to bring down the house once again as they have quickly grabbed a chokehold on Mountain West Muay Thai and MMA and this show will continue in that tradition. Order “A Striker’s Quest IV” watch live and anytime on video on demand only on GFL.tv.

CFFC 45: Sttiner vs Horcher

Atlantic City, NJ – On Saturday February 7th, 2015, live from the Borgata Hotel and Casino, Cage Fury Fighting Championship (CFFC) will crown a new lightweight champion when Jordan Stiner (9-1) takes on Darrell Horcher (10-1) in the main event at CFFC 45. With a combined record of 19-2, this fight will also claim the current title of top lightweight prospect in the world as the last three CFFC lightweight champions, John Cholish, Charlie Brenneman and Paul Felder, have gone to the UFC.
Winning nine out of his first ten pro fights, Stiner heads into this contest with a lot of confidence. He is currently undefeated at lightweight and his only loss was a decision at 145-pounds to the current CFFC featherweight champion, Levan Makashvilli. After that loss, the Canton, Pennsylvania native has won three straight including a knockout victory over Mike Medrano. “My time is now to take the CFFC title,” stated Stiner. “Since moving up to lightweight, I feel like no one is going to be able to stop me from being champion. I was born to fight, this is my destiny. Horcher will be my toughest fight to date and I have nothing but respect for him as a fighter. I feel like we have been on a crash course to fight each other for some time now. We are the top two lightweights in the region and only one of us is going to be crowned. That being said, no one will stand in my way of taking the belt home. No one will want to miss this one, there will most definitely be fireworks!”
After shooting out of the gate with six stoppages in his first six fights, Horcher is putting together a more complete package as a fighter. Once known for just his knockouts, Horcher is showing other aspects of his game which includes wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Horcher has gone 3-0 since signing with CFFC and has his sights set out on CFFC gold since his promotional debut. “I want to thank CFFC for giving me an opportunity to fight for their lightweight title and to showcase my skills,” said Horcher. “Jordan Stiner is a very well rounded opponent. He’s won fights by both knockout and submission. I am excited to compete against Jordan, I think we will bring the best out in each other and put on a great fight for the fans. I approach every fight with the same game plan, to finish. That is my goal, impose my will on my opponent and fight for the finish. Fans won’t want to miss this fight, I’ve been traveling to train with some of the best in the world and I’m ready to show my skills and become CFFC Lightweight Champion.”
In the co-main event, Lyman Good (16-3) will make his second attempt at the CFFC welterweight title when he takes on Elijah Harshbarger (7-4) in a scheduled five-round affair. After a devastating knockout victory in his promotional debut, Good made no mistakes letting it be known that he wanted to fight for the CFFC welterweight title. Good got his chance but due to an accidental eye poke in the third round against current champion, Jonavin Webb (7-0), the bout was ruled a no-contest. With Webb sidelined, the fight between Good and Harshbarger will be for the CFFC interim title. “I’m very excited to put my skills to work again for the CFFC, and fight for a title against a high-level opponent like Elijah,” said the New York, New York native. “I’m going to bring my usual level of violence and, while I’m ready for a five round war, I don’t see it lasting that long.”
Coming off a win over a UFC veteran, Harshbarger comes into this fight as a champion under another organization. The Woodbridge, Virginia native has an incredible six submissions in his seven victories. The only decision win to his name is against former CFFC champion and current UFC standout, George Sullivan. “I’m super excited for the opportunity to fight for CFFC title,” said Harshbarger. “It’s a very coveted title. I have had my eye on it for a long time. Getting to fight a guy with as good a reputation as Lyman Good really is just the cherry on top for me. I’m hoping this is the win to put me in the spotlight.”

This event brings together all of the top fighters in Arkansas and the surrounding area as OTC puts on another stacked pro/am card for the rabid fans of the area.
In the main event, Isaac Ware (7-5) takes on Dawond Pickney (5-2). Ware is a well-rounded fighter having wins by both KO and submission. Ware is a solid fighter that is known for his guts when he gets into the cage as he is one to never back up or give an inch. He comes forward and continues to come forward which puts a lot of pressure on his opponents. Pickney is a crowd pleaser for his fast paced fighting style as only 2 of his 7 bouts have ever gone to a decision. Look for Pickney to try and take Ware down in the opening moments and look for a submission during transitions on the ground. Pickney has knockout power in both hands and if he lands one, clean punch it could change the trajectory of the whole fight.
In other action, Deartie Tucker III (1-6) fights TJ Brown (1-1). Tucker III fights out of Oklahoma and is looking to get back in the win column after a long drought. Tucker III uses a high risk-high reward style that has made him a crowd favorite as he either wins or loses with style. Brown is another fighter known for his exciting fighting style as he has never gone to a decision. Brown will be giving up experience in the cage, but will rely on his explosiveness and aggressiveness to make up for any deficiencies as it relates to cage time.
