Golden Boy Promotions Has Settled Their Lawsuit With Former CEO Richard Schaefer
Los Angeles, CA (January 10th, 2015)– According to multiple reports, Golden Boy Promotions has settled their lawsuit against former CEO Richard Schaefer. Golden Boy will retain promotional rights to a few fighters currently advised by Al Haymon, including Lucas Matthysse, and Leo Santa Cruz – however, several other fighters that once fought under the Golden Boy Promotions banner, like Adrien Broner, Danny Garcia,Amir Khan and Danny Jacobs will move on.
Specific details of the settlement are unclear at this time, it is our understanding that Schaefer will not be able to work for another promotional company for an unspecified period of time, however we expect him to be working with Haymon Boxing in some capacity.
“Everyone is excited that we’ve gotten this over and that we can get back to making fights the fans want to see,” acording to a source from Yahoo Sports.”It was just so tough getting fights made under the system we were in. With this deal, we can now make the fights the fans want to see and when these young fighters develop, we’ll be back where we were.
