New York, NY (November 22, 2014)– In the main event of a eight bout New Legend Boxing Card at Resorts World Casino Aqueduct Raceway in Queens, New York, on Friday evening, November 21, 2014, Bryant ‘Pee Wee’ Cruz won the vacant Universal Boxing Federation All Americas Lightweight championship with a second round stoppage of Mexican veteran Engelberto Valenzuela. The event was billed as International Fight Night 15.
Cruz, now 13-0, seven knockouts, Portchester, New York, fought a cautious first round. In the second round, Cruz came forward and trapped Valenzuela, 9-4 with three knockouts, Agua Prieto, Mexico, in his own corner, and battered him backward and helpless with power headshots until the referee stopped it. With this performance, Cruz demonstrated to New Legend boxing co-promoters Felipe Gomez and Kevin O’Sullivan he is worthy of better opposition. Valenzuela’s four losses have come against world class fighters.
