Cecilia Braekhus vs. Oxandia Castillo on September 8th
Oxandia Castillo (12-0,8kos) shocked the boxing world in February when she stopped Hanna Gabriel to become world champion at the age of 18. Widely considered the “next big thing in women´s boxing”, the fearless Castillo now travels to Frederikshavn to challenge the “First Lady” Cecilia Braekhus (22-0, 6kos) at Arena Nord. “Bring it on,” Braekhus said. “This should be a great fight – two unbeaten champions, two highly-motivated fighters and a great crowd in Frederikshavn. It will be another exciting night for women´s boxing. I have a lot of respect for Oxandia´s accomplishments. Her victory over Gabriel was impressive. I know what it´s like to be the up-and-coming youngster that hunts down the big names, I´ve been in her position myself. But she has never been in the ring with someone like me. Her winning streak will come to an end on September 7.”
