UFC 158 St.-Pierre vs. Diaz, March 16, 2013
Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec.

With the breaking news of injury and a reshuffling of the fight card for what may be the best Welterweight line up in history, UFC 158 moves to the next level of anticipation.
Recently, breaking news came out about Rory McDonald’s (14-1) neck injury and subsequent withdrawal from the UFC 158 event leaving Carlos Condit (28-6) without an opponent. Quick to fill the bill and retain what he feels is his #1 contendor status, Johnny Hendricks (14-1) will now face off with Carlos Condit.
With the move of Hendricks up to Co-Main Event status, that leaves his former opponent, Jaken Ellenberger (28-6), without a dance partner for the big show. Enter former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and newly re-aquired prospect, Nate Marquardt (32-11). Now with Marquardt in the mix and Ellenberger having a big named marquee opponent, everyone is happy. Everyone perhaps that is not Strikeforce Champion Tarec Saffiedine (14-3).
Other Welterweight match ups on the card include Patrick Cote (18-8) vs Bobby Voelker (24-8), Dan Miller (14-6) vs. Jordan Mein (26-8) and Rick Story (14-6) vs. Quinn Mulhern (18-2). It is easy to see that Welterweight is one of the most stacked divisions in the UFC because hitters like Thiago Alves (20-9), Martin Kampmann (20-6), Josh Koscheck (17-6), Demian Maia (18-4) and Jon Fitch (24-5) are not even on the card.
