Robert Guerrero vs. Floyd Mayweather is done for May 4th

Floyd Maywether is leaving HBO

By Anthony L. Gonzalez

Las Vegas, NV (February, 20, 2012)– Floyd Mayweather vs. Robert Guerrero has been officially confirmed for May 4th according to Boxingscene.com at the Las Vegas MGM Grand Arena.

In a shocking move, Floyd Mayweather has decided to leave HBO for Showtime/CBS. That means no HBO 24/7. The deal Mayweather made is supposedly for 6 fights or 30 months.

Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KOs), currently the WBC interim welterweight titleholder, will take on the full-fledged WBC champion Mayweather (43-0, 26 KOs) for the belt.

Floyd will be returning back to the ring after a long layoff. He defeated Miguel Cotto May 5th of this year.

Robert Guerrero is a 2012 Real Combat Media Radio Boxer of the year candidate. He had an impressive 2012 by defeating then undefeated Selçuk Aydın and also defeated Andre Berto in a classic fight. What was impressive about 2012 is how he moved up from 135lbs to 147lbs to win the WBC Championship. Guerrero’s lone loss was Gamaliel Díaz back in 2006. Guerrero has never been stopped.

Prediction

Guerrero has a solid chin, is gritty and has a very solid jab. He can fight well in the pocket and from the outside. However he has a lot of weaknesses in his defensive game. Berto was able to land a lot of solid hooks to the body and uppercuts on the inside. I have Floyd winning 8 rounds or more by simply outclassing Guerrero. Floyd is a great defensive fighter and can adapt by adjusting to any style. However, Floyd will be 36 years old and you never know when you will lose your reaction time at that age. He has shown some signs of slowing down in his last fight. He is not as mobile as he was in the past and likes to fight more from close range. These factors make this an interesting fight.

Floyd by Unanimous decision
