ROCKY MARTINEZ VS MIGUEL BELTRÁN JR. ON SEPTEMBER 15; IVAN CALDERON VS MOISES FUENTES ON OCTOBER 6; JONATHAN OQUENDO IS BACK ON OCTOBER
Former world champions Roman “Rocky” Martinez and Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon will fight for world titles on September and October, respectively, and world ranked Jonathan “Polvo” Oquendo is back on October in Puerto Rico.
Peter Rivera, Vice-President of PR Best Boxing Promotions, announced today that Martinez (25-1-1, 16 KOs), a former WBO junior lightweight champion, is going to fight against Mexican Miguel Beltran Jr. (27-1, 17 KOs) on September 15, as part of the Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Sergio Martinez show at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“The fight between Rocky Martinez and Beltran Jr. is for the vacant WBO junior lightweight championship on September 15 in the Pay Per View of Chavez Jr.-Martinez”, Rivera said about the title that was vacated weeks ago when former champion Adrien Broner failed to make the weight for his fight against Vicente Escobedo.
Meanwhile, Iron Boy Calderon (35-2-1, 6 KOs) and the WBO minimum weight champion Moises Fuentes (15-1, 7 KOs) will fight on October 6 in the show where Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18 KOs) and Rafael Marquez (41-7, 37 KOs) will face for the WBO International superbantamweight title at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
In that show, Oquendo (22-2, 15 KOs), the #2 ranked by the WBO in the superbantamweights, will fight for the first time in a year after his recovery from an accident. He will face an opponent to be announced.

The successful series “A Puño Limpio” is back. The new edition will take place on Friday, September 7 at the coliseo Ruben Zayas Montañez in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, with the fight between unbeaten Kenneth Diaz and Yoelvis Gamboa in the main event of the show, presented by PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP), in association with Top Rank, to be broadcast live on WAPA America.
“We are going to present A Puño Limpio for the first time in Trujillo Alto with nine fights and in the main event the prospect Kenneth Diaz will face Yoelvis Gamboa, a good fight, adding “a war” in the co-main event when Osenohad Vazquez will fight against Anthony Sanchez”, Promoter Ivan Rivera, PRBBP president said.
Diaz (6-0, 5 KOs), an undefeated prospect from San Juan, Puerto Rico, will make his hardest fight when he faces Gamboa (7-1, 3 KOs), who is the younger brother of former world champion and boxing superstar Yuriorkis Gamboa. The bout between Diaz and Gamboa is scheduled to six rounds in the welterweight division.
In the co-main event, hardened Osenohad “Cano” Vazquez (6-1, 2 KOs), from Vega Baja, will face tough Anthony Sanchez (5-1, 3 KOs), from Toa Baja, also scheduled to six rounds in the junior welters.
Seven other fights will complete the card.
“A Puño Limpio” will be broadcast live to the United States on WAPA America from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. (ET).
