By: Anthony L. Gonzalez

In a bizarre ending, DeMarcus Corley defeated Paul McCloskey at the King’s Hall in Belfast. DeMarcus Corley proved tonight that he is still a major force at junior welterweight. Corley controlled McCloskey early on and was winning the fight. He was able to land a lot of right hands and give McCloskey trouble.

During the middle rounds, McCloskey was able to come comeback and even up the fight. Paul was the busier of the two fighters and almost evened up the score.

In round 10, Corley landed a solid left hand that stunned the bloody Irishman. He stumbled and lost balance and the referee stopped the fight. The entire Irish crowd was stunned and silent when the fight was stooped. The fight was pretty even up until the stoppage.

McCloskey title hopes were ruined with this loss. DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley who is a former world champ, has now won two fights in a row. In his last fight, he upset the undefeated Puerto Rican boxing star Gabriel Bracero. DeMarcus spoke to Real Combat Media’s Chris Cercola yesterday and was very motivated for this fight. He told Chris that he is in the best physical shape of the past ten years.
