Cleto Reyes, The Only Gloves That Should Be Used For World Title Fights.

On the 26th of April 1920 in Mexico City Cleto Reyes Castro was born, this man would go on to produce the greatest boxing gloves the world as ever known. In 1938 Cleto took part in an amateur fight and his performance was so good that that public ended up throwing coins into the ring floor, however the pounding was so hard that he was convinced not to fight again. He chose, instead, to mead the gloves he used in the fight and thus started his career in glove manufacture. His gloves obtained the approval of the local boxing commission and in 1945 Cleto Reyes gloves were used for the first time. In 1965 he had his first representative in Los Angeles, who began distributing his products in the most important cities of the United States and some other countries. In 1970 Don Cleto’s health was ailing, and his son Alberto Reyes joint his father’s efforts and with entrepreneurial vision registered the trademark Cleto Reyes in 1975 and founded Industria Reyes S.A de C.V in 1979. As boxing fans we should thank Cleto and his family for everything they have done for the sport. The sport itself has inducted Alberto Reyes into the World Boxing Hall Of Fame. Reyes gloves have been used by most of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport, and are endorsed by all the major governing bodies. As boxing purest we should want Cleto Reyes to be used in every world title fight, it’s a punchers glove and has a history attached, that you just can’t find with any other glove.
I believe using a glove of this calibre adds to the prestige of a world title fight and looks fantastic on photographs of the fight. As a fan, I have to be honest and say, my heart beats a little bit faster when I see the fighters are wearing Reyes, as I believe it adds to the fight when the fighters are using them. So as fans lets demand that these handmade punchers gloves from Mexico are used in every world title fight. Because I for one love them, and I enjoy my fights more whenever the little 8/10oz gloves from Mexico are used.
