Dmitry Bivol vs. Michael Eifert Weigh-in Video & Press Conference

Yekaterinburg, Russia (May 28th, 2026)– Matchroom Boxing, in association with World of Boxing, RCC Boxing Promotions, and Star Boxing, today announced that unified light heavyweight world champion Dmitry Bivol will defend his IBF, WBA, and The Ring magazine titles against German mandatory challenger Michael Eifert on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The event will take place at the UMMC Arena in Yekaterinburg, Russia, marking Bivol’s first fight in his home country since December 2021. This highly anticipated bout represents Bivol’s return to the ring after 15 months away due to herniated disk back surgery, ending a year-plus period of inactivity that had kept boxing fans waiting for his comeback.

The 12-round main event will see 35-year-old champion Bivol, standing 6’0″ with a 72-inch reach and holding a record of 24–1 with 12 knockouts, face 28-year-old German challenger Eifert, who brings a 13–1 record with 5 knockouts to the table. Eifert has been the IBF mandatory challenger since his unanimous decision victory over Jean Pascal in March 2023, though he notably accepted step-aside payments to allow the Bivol-Beterbiev fights to take place twice.

The WBO has removed its belt from the fight due to its policy regarding events in Russia amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, though Bivol will not be stripped of the WBO title. The fight will still feature the IBF light heavyweight title, WBA light heavyweight title, and The Ring magazine light heavyweight championship on the line. The event will showcase 11 bouts total at the 12,588-seat UMMC Arena, which serves as home to the Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg ice hockey club.

The co-feature will be a 10-round super middleweight contest between Russian fighter Nikita Zon, who enters undefeated at 11–0–1 with 9 knockouts, and Argentina’s Nahuel Gonzalo Garcia, making his international debut with an 18–3–1 record and 16 knockouts. The undercard includes a featherweight bout, Vsevolod Shumkov vs. Christian Olivo, where Olivo brings an impressive 20–0–1 record with 7 knockouts, as well as super bantamweight action featuring Mukhammad Shekhov against Yerni Betancourt, along with six additional bouts to complete the full card.

DAZN Bivol vs Eifert IBF Light Heavyweight Battle in Historic Ekaterinburg

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

UMMC Arena in Ekaterinburg (also called Yekaterinburg), Russian Federation, is where International Boxing Federation and IBO World Light Heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol will defend his title in a scheduled 12-round bout against German challenger and former BDB German Light Heavyweight regional champion Michael Eifert on Saturday night, May 30, 2026, in the highlight bout on an eleven-bout pro card. Historic Ekaterinburg is where the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas Romanov II, and his family were executed by a Bolshevik firing squad on the night of July 16–17, 1918. The tragedy took place in the basement of the Ipatiev House. Along with Tsar Nicholas II, his wife, Empress Alexandra, and their five children, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei, were killed, along with four of their remaining household staff.

DAZN Bet has Bivol odds as a 1 to 25 favorite at -2500 to -25000. Underdog challenger Eifert is a 10-to-1 longshot at +900 to +7200. Bivol is predicted to win by unanimous decision, winning all rounds. Perhaps durable Eifert will win one or two rounds on the scorecards in a survivor-type bout. Bivol’s flawless ring generalship, his precise jab, and technical ability to score points from jabs at well-calculated distance range will force Eifert into survival mode. Eifert, unable to get inside.

Bivol, 24-1 with 12 knockouts, Indio, California, by way of Kyrgyzstan, is one level class of fighter above game Eifert, 13-1 with five knockouts, Magdeburg, Germany, lacks Bivol’s experience and level of opposition. In his only appearance outside of Canada, Eifert scored a major upset when he outpointed former WBC World Light Heavyweight champion Jean Pascal over 12 rounds in Laval, Canada, in March 2023. At least Bivol will hope to get some solid rounds and some good work in. Expect Eifert to fight a survival-type fight. While he might survive, his odds of winning a round are slim, and Bivol could stop Eifert in the middle or later rounds if Eifert proves to be an extremely limited opponent with a deficient defense. Eifert is a mystery challenger, though. That Eifert outpointed Pascal could force Bivol to take a cautious points win, a careful approach, and not take unnecessary chances with an unknown, dangerous opponent.
