UFC Analyst and MMA Coach Din Thomas Says Ronda Rousey Should Not Be Cleared To Fight Again

Los Angeles, California (October 16th, 2025)– Should Ronda Rousey be relicensed to return to professional MMA competition? Recent workout videos posted on YouTube and social media by Rousey seem to have raised the possibility.
Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight World champion ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey was blunt about concussions and concussion symptoms in her 2024 book ‘My Fight’, in which she stated she kept her medical issues secret for years due to fear of kept from competition in he future. Recently, Rousey has been posting training videos and noted she is rediscovering her love for the sport after leaving it behind emphatically. One of those videos appears with his story.
For current UFC analyst and MMA coach Din Thomas, such comments by Rousey last year are evidence enough to disqualify her at age from being licensed by any commission for high-impact combat sports, nearly 10 years after she lost by TKO to Amanda Nunes in just 48 seconds at UFC 207. Rousey went on to a successful professional wrestling career in the WWE.
Din Thomas, in a recent interview last month with MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn on the Bohnfire podcast, stated “She shouldn’t even be cleared. How irresponsible would it be for a fight organization to hear all that and then put her in a fight? To me, it almost sounds like you might’ve leaked that stuff in hopes they don’t put you back in a fight. You can’t play with those issues. It wouldn’t be good for the sport. It would be a real (really) bad look on the sport (bad for MMA’s image) to have some complaining about those type of issues, and then, you know, knowing that, you still put her in a fight. If that’s the case, we’ve got to keep her out of The Octagon.”
Rousey, 12-2, Glendale Fighting Club, Santa Monica, California, won her first 10 female UFC bouts between 2011 and 2015, before getting knocked out by Holly Holm in the second round in November 2015, and stopped in the first round by Amanda Nunez in December 2016. Her final appearance in The Octagon was nine years ago. Nunez, 23-5, who defeated Holm in the first round in 2019, retired after a win over Irene Aldana in June 2023. Holm, 15-7 with one No Contest, retired after a loss to Kayla Harrison in April 2024 while returning to boxing.
