Hackney Wick, UK (May 18th, 2025)– In a rematch of the December 2024 heavyweight bout won by split decision by Johnny Fisher in which Dave Allen knocked down Fisher in the fifth round but still lost 95-94 on two scorecards at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dazzling’ Dave Allen knocked down Fisher twice in the fifth round of the rematch at Copper Box Arena, Elizabeth Olympic Park in Hackney Wick, United Kingdom, on May 17, 2025, triggering talk of a heavyweight trilogy rematch in 2026 by Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

The more experienced heavyweight veteran Allen, 25-7-2 with 19 knockouts, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, let the younger, undefeated Fisher, now 13-1 with 11 knockouts, Romford, United Kingdom, dominate the early rounds before unleashing his power to break Fisher down. The first bout looked like Allen won but did not get the decision, so a rematch was engaged to settle the score.

Two Allen overhand lefts after a body shot dropped a tiring Fisher with 20 seconds left in the fifth round, who got up and settled on the ropes. Two Allen left hands to the head, a left-right to the body, followed by a left to the head, stiffed Fisher face first to the canvas. Fisher’s corner threw in the towel at precisely the 3:00 mark with Fisher down and out face first.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, “I can see the trilogy (bout) one day but not next (the next fight). I’m pretty honest to the point where when you get a chance to run it back like we did, it’s like-should we have taken the rematch? I still think the answer is yes because we won the first fight. It was very close – but if you’re going to go to the levels we hope Fisher will, you learn from the first fight, and you beat Dave Allen in the rematch.  He wasn’t good enough. Therefore, you don’t want to have him being knocked out like that (as just happened), with (given) the inexperience of Johnny Fisher, just to automatically go back into number three (an immediate trilogy bout).”

Hearn also stated he would like to see Fisher have at least two transitional bouts before reengaging Allen for a third trilogy rubber match bout in 2026. Hearn also confirmed Allen would have a minimum of two more fights with Matchroom Promotions, before a trilogy bout would take place. The two combatants, while not at the Oleksandr Usyk level, have the luxury of selling tickets well at the gate, a draw that warrants the two heavyweights fighting again.

Result: Dave Allen Won by TKO in 5 Rounds over Johnny Fisher, Heavyweights (3:00)
