Edmond Promotions Presents Seven Bout Prospects Card at Robert Treat Center Newark

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Newark, NJ (March 27th, 2025)– Promoter Juana Edmond and Edmond Promotions will present an exciting seven bout card entitled ‘Big Match Live Boxing-Only The Strong Survive’ of boxing featuring area prospects at Robert Treat Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday night, March 29, 2025, featuring the eight round main event NBA vacant super flyweight regional title bout between Anthony Johns and Delvin McKinley.

Johns, 9-1 win six knockouts, Newark, New Jersey, is favored to win by stoppage or eight round unanimous decision over McKinley, 11-4-1 with 11 knockouts, New Orleans, Louisiana, who is coming into the hometown of Johns on a seven bout win streak. This bout is an even matchup and should an exciting, hard fought contest between two enthusiastic competitors. The win will go to the fighter who has trained the best and wants it more. Johns, a Newark native, should prove the more motivated competitor. Johns defeated 8-8 Edwin Reyes by six round majority decision in October 2024 at Prudential Center, giving him the edge on experience with a better quality of opponents.

In the eight round super bantamweight preliminary bout to the main event, John ‘The Body Shot’ Leonardo, 12-1-1 with six knockouts, Manalapan Township, New Jersey, is favored to win by knockout over Jaden ‘Oveja Negra’ Burnias, 8-3-2 with six knockouts, Weslaco, Texas. Leonard is a body shot hunter, and will look to break down Burnias in the early rounds before closing the show. World ranked Gary Antonio Russell took out Burnias in the fourth round at Caribe Royale Orlando in October 2024, and Leonard will most likely follow the same winning game plan. Burnias won two comeback bouts in November and December 2024, though, and could make a good accounting of himself.

In preliminary bouts, super welterweight Raul Garcia, 13-2-1 with 11 knockouts, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, is favored to win by knockout over southpaw Andre Sherard, 5-3 with four knockouts, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Garcia has won three of five bouts against world class opponents, twice by first round knockout. Though he lost his last bout by unanimous 10 round decision to world ranked Vladimir Hernandez, Garcia is a 10 round fighter and Sherard is not. Sherard has never beaten a fighter with two or more wins and a winning record, and Garcia is likely to feel out Sherard right away.

Super bantamweight Alex Rodriguez Santiago, 11-0-1 with eight knockouts, Little Falls, New Jersey by way of the Dominican Republic, is favored to win by six round unanimous decision over Venezuelan journeyman Cristian Perez, 10-7 with seven knockouts, Petare, Venezuela.

Welterweight prospect Ghandi Romain, 8-1-1 with six knockouts, Irvington, New Jersey, by way of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is favored to win by knockout or stoppage over trial horse Jonatan Hernan Godoy, 7-22 with one knockout, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Godoy is a survivor type fighter with no power. Romain has knocked out all three of his opponents with a losing record. Godoy would have to hold for all six rounds to survive, which is unlikely, given Romain’s sixty percent career knockout ratio.

Welterweight prospect Luis Morales, 4-0 with two knockouts, Fort Worth, Texas, by way of Puerto Rico, is favored to win by four round majority or split decision over Jorge Luis-Gonzalez-Sanchez, 3-2 with three knockouts, Las Marias, Puerto Rico, in a close hard fought technical bout.

Two-time New Jersey Golden Gloves and Diamond Gloves champion Jasai Kirkpatrick will open the card. In his lightweight professional debut, Kirkpatrick, Port Monmouth, New Jersey, is favored to win by knockout over Anderson Briseno, 1-3 with one knockout, Caracas, Venezuela. Kirkpatrick was not known for knockout power in the amateurs. However, this is Kirkpatrick’s pro debut, and Briseno has been plagued by a weak chin. Kirkpatrick, who knows how to cut off the ring, will not be making a social call.

Doors will open at 6 P.M., with the first bout starting at 7:45 P.M., on Saturday night, March 29, 2025, at historic Robert Treat Center, 50 Park Place, Newark, New Jersey. Tickets based on availability are: $200 for Gold seating; $125 VIP seating; and $75 for general admission at the door or call promoter Juana Edmonds for advanced ticket purchases at 973-951-0578.
