JAKE PAUL VS. NATE DIAZ PREVIEW, MEDIA WORKOUTS, BETTING ODDS, PRESSER & WEIGH-IN VIDEO
By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media Head Boxing Correspondent
Dallas, Texas (August 4th, 2023)– Jake Paul takes on American MMA fighter Nate Diaz in his latest PPV bout. After defeat against Tommy Fury for Jake Paul in his last match-up, the crossover fighter has picked his next opponent. He will step into the ring with Nate Diaz Jr who is now a free agent after the end of his contract with the UFC. The pair will fight on Saturday, August 5 in Texas in a pay-per-view event to be shown globally on DAZN. Nate has expressed interest in returning to the UFC after this fight.
Robert Brizel’s Pulverizing Prediction: Place Your Knockout Bets on Jake Paul
The undisputed king of YouTube internet hype, cruiserweight Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul, 6-1 with four knockouts, Dorado, Puerto Rico, age 26, coming off his split decision eight round loss to 9-0 Tommy Fury in Diriyah Arena this past February 2023, returns to the ring tonight against UFC legend Nate Diaz, age 38, UFC record 21-13, Stockton, California, fighting in the MMA Welterweight class for Cesar Gracie fight team, at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday night, August 5, 2023.
This will be the pro boxing debut of Diaz, and the ending is not predicted to be a pleasant one. This is a must win for Jake Paul.
Paul has a solid overhand right, and does consistent body work, which he will need to do to fully break Diaz down. Diaz will need to resort to some of his trademark underhanded tactics, including hitting and then holding, repeated holding throughout the bout to frustrate Paul, and to get inside with pinpoint body shots to expose Paul and break his resistance and will. Paul has the edge in boxing experience. Diaz is the wise old man in terms of Octagon experience. The bout result could swing either way, or could just drag on to a controversial decision ending.
Jake Paul is a great social media salesman. It would be a far cry to put Paul in with a world cruiserweight champion in a world title belt, but it would sell pay-per-views. In this particular bout, Jake Paul is putting his words to the real test, as his last opponent, Tommy Fury, was not anything of the caliber of his brother, world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Diaz represents a different caliber of opponent, though not in terms of raw boxing experience, in terms of rough and tumble Octagon experience.
