TEOFIMO LOPEZ ENDS RETIREMENT & CALLS OUT DEVIN HANEY
By Robert Brizel, Real Combat Media Head Boxing Correspondent
Las Vegas, NV (July 18th, 2023)– Teofimo Lopez, age 25, 19-1 with 13 knockouts, Las Vegas, Nevada, had previously announced his retirement on June 14, 2023, two days after winning the World Boxing Organisation World Super Lightweight title at Madison Square Garden from 19-0 Josh Taylor. Now Lopez has decided to return and keep his WBO belt.
Lopez claimed at the time he had made ESPN over 100 million dollars, yet was dissatisfied earning only one million dollars per fight before taxes and expenses.
Haney, 30-0 with 15 knockouts, Las Vegas, Nevada, the undisputed World Lightweight champion, was arrested last week and charged with felony possession of a concealed weapon in his car in Los Angeles, California, and is out on 35 thousand dollars of bail. Hopefully, legal problems will not interfere with the dreams of Lopez.
