Woes of Tank Davis: Jailed in Baltimore, and His Florida Mansion is Burglarized Too

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Baltimore, MD (June 12th, 2023)– Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is currently in jail in Baltimore, Maryland, for violating the terms of his three months of house arrest sentence in regards to his 2020 car crash. Davis, 39-0 with 37 knockouts, Baltimore, Maryland, was supposed to remain at his trainer Calvin Ford’s house in Baltimore. However, ‘Tank’ preferred to reside in the new 3.4 million dollars luxury penthouse he had just purchased, along with his personal security detail. The court disagreed with Gervonta’s change in living plans in violation of the court agreement already in place.

According to Davis, the room he was supposed to reside in did not have room for both him and his children, and could not accommodate his security detail 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Michael Tomko, Tank’s attorney, confirmed the room in trainer Ford’s house could not also include the boxer’s security detail on a 24 hours a day basis.

Davis was found at the Four Seasons Hotel. On May 5, 2023, Davis agreed to serve his three months of home confinement sentence with Mr. Ford. On June 1, 2023, he was not there, and on June 2, 2023, apprehended by deputies of Sheriff Sam Cogen, and sent to jail by judge Althea Handy.

On the same day he was apprehended, Tank’s runoff of rotten luck continued when his Parkland, Florida mansion got robbed. According to Michael Tomko, the attorney for Davis throughout his legal troubles, the boxer’s Florida mansion was burglarized and ransacked after his home detention sentence was canceled. The Baltimore Banner newspaper reported Tomko outlined personal belongings missing include prized boxing regalia and mementos of Davis, and several collector automobiles. The theft is said to be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. The Broward County Sheriff’s office is investigating. Obviously there was not adequate security in place, there was nobody watching the house, and there is a good chance people who knew of its contents did it. When you flash what you have, it is an invitation to steal.

Tank’s knockout of 28-0 Ryan Garcia at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this past April 2023 was not a titular defense. Tank is now in danger of losing his lone WBA World Lightweight title if he does not defend it. Tank’s personal life of late has been turbulent. Tank’s behavior and life seems more reminiscent of the world heavyweight champion than it does the world lightweight champion. Davis has experienced his share of Woe, and will not be released in Baltimore until August 2023. His WBA title defense will be due, his two residences will have expenses due, and his children will have support expenses as well. Davis will have to fight again, but for now, his next move is on hold while he is on hold until further notice.
