Murat Gassiev Wins the WBA Inter-Continental Title
The Russian beat Mike Balogun (USA) by TKO in the second round.
Moscow, Russia (March 4th, 2023)– This night, March 4th, was a pro boxing night featuring Murat Gassiev’s (RUS) victory over Mike Balogun (USA). The bout ended in a TKO in the second round. The Ossetian ‘Iron’ won the WBA (World Boxing Association) Inter-Continental title.
The fight lasted about a round and a half. In the entire first round Gassiev failed to throw a single heavy punch, and it did not happen until the middle of the second three minutes. Gassiev’s very first shattering hook sent Balogun down on the canvas. The American tried to get back on his feet but all his attempts to face further beating were nipped by the referee logging Gassiev’s win by knockout.
Murat Gassiev’s overall record now has 30 wins (23 by KO) and one defeat in pro boxing. For Balogun it is the first loss in the professional ring – before the fight the American had 20 wins (15 by KO).
In the co-main event of the night Cuba’s Luis Miguel Bayona representing Ural Boxing Promotion won a victory over Uzbekistan’s Muzaffar Rasulov.
An up-and-coming boxer from Chelyabinsk, Andrey Stotsky beat his opponent Ravshanbek Djabbarov (UZB).
