Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Liam Smith Weigh-in, Preview, Predictions, Betting Odds & How to Watch!

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Manchester, UK (January 21st, 2023)– With eleven years fighting experience, former International Boxing Organization World Super Middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr., 32-2 with 23 knockouts, Brighton, Sussex, United kingdom, may not be the best, but he is simply better than Liam Smith, 32-3-1 with 19 knockouts, Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom, in their scheduled 12 round confrontation today in Manchester Arena’s main event. Smith has lost his critical main event bouts with Canelo Alvarez, Jaime Munguia, and Magomed Kurbanov. With Eubank, Eubank lost to Billy Jo Saunders and George Groves by decision, but both men subsequently lost their next bouts and have not reappeared, indicating their wars with Eubank took a toll.

Eubank is too sharp, too well seasoned, and too well prepared by Smith to be in this bout. Chris Eubank Jr. is predicted to win by tenth or eleven round stoppage or 12 round unanimous decision in their DAZN Sky televised showdown. Smith is very food, and is coming in to win, but Eubank is just one class above Smith in every respect.

In the welterweight regional titular preliminary bout to the main event, Chris ‘2Slick’ Kongo, 14-1 with seven knockouts, Bermondsey, London, United Kingdom, is predicted to win by 12 round majority or split decision in an upset over Ekow Essuman, 18-0 with seven knockouts, Nottingham, United Kingdom, by way of Botswana. The BBB of C, Commonwealth Boxing Council, World Boxing Council International Silver and International Boxing Federation European belts will be at stake. The IBF belt now held by Essuman will be at stake for Essuman only, and will become vacant of Kongo wins.
