Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte is Wembley High Explosive Box Office Dynamite Preview

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

London, UK (April 22, 2022)– Tyson Fury will not be the only Fury of the fighting Fury on the BT Sport United Kingdom London and ESPN+ Wembley card this Saturday night. Nor is it predicted to be the final bout of Tyson Fury in the main event. Fury is predicted to stop Dillian Whyte in the ninth or tenth round of a high explosive dynamite slugfest of a bout. After Fury wins, this will set up a spectacular world heavyweight title unification bout with the winner of Oleksandr Usyk versus Anthony Joshua II winner take all.

Fury, 31-0 with 22 knockouts, Henderson, Nevada, is dealing with a competent but limited chin Whyte, 28-2 with 19 knockouts, Brixton, London, United Kingdom, inactive over a year since splitting two bouts with Alexander Povetkin. It did come to pass in August 2020 Povetkin exposed Whyte’s chin in the fifth round. Fury’s power will find Whyte’s chin after breaking him down, and depending on the speed of the Fury dismantling of Whyte, Whyte could get stopped or knocked out a couple of rounds earlier, in the sixth or seventh round. An entertaining bout for as long as it lasts, Fury versus Whyte should prove to be a mismatch. Fury is unlikely in the worst case scenario to underestimate Whyte, and both combatants will be well-prepared. Fury will remain the lineal and World Boxing Council World Heavyweight champion

In the two preliminary bouts to the main event, 14-0 Nick Ball of Liverpool is predicted to win by 12 round unanimous decision and win the vacant WBC Silver Featherweight title over 21-1-3 Isaac Lowe of Morecambe, United Kingdom. Lowe was knocked out by Luis Alberto Lopez in the seventh round last December, and will not be returning as quite the same fighter. 16-0 Ekkow Essuman will retain the BBBof C, Commonwealth British Empire and International Boxing Federation European Welterweight titles with a close by unanimous 12 round decision over game 21-2 Darren Tetley of Bradford, United Kingdom.

WBC/Lineal/Ring Magazine heavyweight world champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury is comfortable as a solo artist. After Dillian Whyte did not show up to Tuesday’s open workout in London, Fury thrilled the home fans on his own. Fury, who will battle Whyte on ESPN+ PPV this Saturday at Wembley Stadium (2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT), turned southpaw and went through the fight week paces with his head trainer, SugarHill Steward.

A crowd of more than 94,000 is expected for this all-UK showdown, which would be one of the largest audiences in combat sports history.

Without Whyte to share the spotlight, this is some of what Fury had to say.

“Frank Warren and the boys have done a fantastic job. It’s been a great promotion. Looking forward to a fantastic event.”

“I think it’s gonna be real for {Whyte}. If not today or tomorrow or this week, then as soon as I hit him in the mouth on Saturday night. Then, he knows it’s real!”

“I’ve been boxing quite a bit as a southpaw in camp. We’ll see. Whatever works. If that don’t work, we’ll switch off to orthodox. If that don’t work, we’ll switch back up. I might just go square on!”

On Whyte not showing up to the workout

“That’s Dillian’s concern. That’s none of my business. Dillian Whyte, I’m sure he’s got his reasons why he’s not here today. Whatever they are, good luck to him, and I’ll see him on the fight night.”

“I’ve said this is my last fight, and it will be.”

“I’m overwhelmed with the support I’ve had over the years. It’s been fantastic. 94,000 people, it’s unbelievable, it’s amazing stuff.”
