Former World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko Enlists in Ukrainian Territorial Forces

Kiev, Ukraine (February 3rd, 2022)–  A breaking news development sending shockwaves through the boxing world, former World Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has enlisted in the Ukrainian Territorial Armed Forces Reserves. The Russian Federation has amassed large numbers of troops on the Russian side of the border as a pretense to a possible invasion.

Wladimir enlisted in Kiev, Ukraine, where his older brother, former World heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, is the mayor of Kiev. Like many Ukrainian cities at present moment, Kiev is experiencing the evacuation of its residents under the circumstances. So far, the troops on both sides are playing border poker.

Ukraine currently has four functioning nuclear plants, which when combined with the memory of April 26, 1986, Chernobyl nuclear accident disaster at the number four reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the City of Pripyat in Northern Ukraine then located inside the now-defunct Soviet Union, make an aerial attack unlikely. Another nuclear disaster would be catastrophic for both sides. The Chernobyl decontamination cleanup involved over 500 thousand people and cost 68 billion dollars.

The Russian motivation was to economically destabilize the Ukraine, whose economy fell when the Russian Federation amassed 120 thousand troops, heavy artillery, tanks, large caliber mortars, missile systems and aviation on its side of the Ukrainian border. Investors left Ukraine. The Russian Federation has proved  NATO troops cannot be deployed on the Ukrainian side of the border, leaving Ukraine ill-equipped to defend a full scale invasion.

Wladimir Klitschko, in an interview with CNBC, stated “I signed up as a reserve for the territorial forces to defending the city of Kiev, because of everything currently going on around Ukraine. The aggression (is coming) from the Russian side (of the border). For weeks, if not months, there have been reports on how serious this is (the evolving military buildup situation). One district from here (is where) my little girl is going to school. The school is currently closed because the ambassadors (heads of the school) have sent the families (the children) home. It is the love, the love for my city, which has brought me here today (to enlist) for the love of my home, family, neighbors, and daughter. I took this initiative. I am now taking part in this territorial defense (of Ukraine, my country).”

World War III, in the midst of the Pandemic, would be insane, and cause the countries of the world to take sides. Vitali Klitschko told CNBC he remained cautiously optimistic in the hope for a diplomatic solution to be negotiated.  “Before our enemies make an attack against Ukraine, they have to sink. We’re strong. This will be a very painful price for everyone (bloodshed on both sides, if it happens). We hope our Ukrainian diplomats will give (use) all (of their negotiating skills) knowledge to stop this aggression in a diplomatic way. If not, we have to prepare to take weapons in our hands, and defend the country.”
