Tyson Fury Instagram Video: Crazy Eddie Hearn and Joshua Turned Down 90 Million Dollars in Step Aside Money!
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Las Vegas, NV (January 22, 2022)– In yet another controversial Instagram bark, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, loud and furious, lineal World Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, angered at his inability to be able to next fight Oleksandr Usyk to unify the world heavyweight title belts in 2022. Fury claims Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearns and his ex-world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua threw away a 90 million dollars step aside package for Joshua to allow Fury to fight Usyk next. A smiling Fury is humorously mad as hell about it.
What remains unclear, after Fury’s sudden announcement creating worldwide disbelief on Instagram, is where Fury expected that kind of step aside money to come from, and what the details of the step aside financial package for Hearn and Joshua would be. Neither side is following up or talking in response to the supposed offer. Nobody is claiming Fury’s offer is not so, only that Joshua has a mandatory rematch clause after losing his world heavyweight titular belts to Usyk, much as he lost them before to Andy Ruiz Jr. Like Ruiz, Joshua is insisting on the mandatory rematch and is contractually entitled to it if he wants one, and he wants the rematch. Apparently, Tyson Fury cannot buy his way into Joshua’s heart. As Usyk does not have the mandatory rematch clause, Joshua does, all Usyk can do is cooperate and take the rematch.
In the meanwhile, Fury stated on Instagram smiling with ridiculous disbelief “Had to businessmen do this video. Eddie Hearn and Anthony Joshua have got to be the worst damn businessmen in history! Today they lost (turned down an offer of) 90 million dollars! God-damn sons of a bitches! Crazy asses!” Fury is stuck with two more days to finalize the purse bid for his mandatory titular defense against World Boxing Council Interim World Heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte. Both fighters are out of the United Kingdom, where Fury versus Whyte would presumably take place. Top rank is offering Whyte a 20 percent cutoff the purse. Whyte has already indicated the low sum is unacceptable. If Whyte does not accept the final offer, Fury may be looking at a rematch with Otto Wallin, a match with Robert Helenius, or any heavyweight who is ready, willing and able (even on short notice), who will take whatever purse if offered. Whyte has already sued the WBC for trying to wiggle out of his mandatory challenger status as the number one contender, for trying (and still trying) to put together Fury versus Usyk together behind Whyte’s back as the mandatory status to be the next challenger for Fury in 2022 after stopping Alexander Povetkin. In the midst of this mess, Whyte might as well be the cartoon Peanuts character Charlie Brown screaming aaugh! Probably because nobody wants to [ay Whyte to step aside. If Joshua and Hearn eventually take the deal. Friday could tell the final story.
