Free To Choose: Mike Tyson Praises Toad Venom and Magic Mushrooms

Former World Heavyweight champion “Iron” Mike Tyson has entered into a partnership with Wesana Health, a group that explores the benefits of psilocybin in treating traumatic brain injuries in athletes, veterans and others.

Tyson also claims smoking toad venom has helped the ex-champ to turn his life around for the better by emotionally functioning better. Tyson admitted he has used the psychedelic drug 53 times in the last four years, during which time he shed 100 pounds leading into his comeback heavyweight exhibition with Roy Jones Jr.

Each toad has venom glands that excrete toxins containing 5-MeO-DMT, a psychedelic chemical. The liquid is extracted from the toad’s glands and then dried into a paste. This paste is then smoked, and users experience a trip that starts within 10 to 30 seconds. Toad venom is considered the new trendy hallucinogenic.

In addition, Tyson credits taking psychedelic “magic” mushrooms for his new calm demeanor and positive attitude on life. The technical term for magic mushrooms is psilocybin mushrooms. Although medical professionals have warned against self-medicating with them due to the potential for disturbing hallucinations, anxiety and panic, for Tyson the positive effects of smoking toad venom and taking magic mushrooms have been therapeutic according to him. “To think where I was, almost suicidal, to this (point of positive personality and outlook on life) now. Isn’t life a trip, man? It’s amazing medicine, and people don’t look at it from that perspective,” noted Tyson.

Speaking recently to The New York Post newspaper at the Wonderland Miami (Florida) conference dedicated to medicine, Tyson explained “It (smoking toad venom) has made me more creative, and (it) helps me (to emotionally) focus. I’m more present as a businessman and entrepreneur. People see the difference [in me]. It (smoking toad venom) speaks for itself. The toad’s whole purpose is to reach your highest potential. I look at the world differently. We’re all the same. Everything is love.”

Among other noteworthy toad venom smokers, in April 2021, Hunter Biden (son of current United States President Joe Biden) stated toad venom helped to keep him abstain from alcohol consumption and remain sober for more than a year.

Tyson claims he experienced a state of death during his first “trip” smoking the toad venom, though he is obviously still alive. “The toad has taught me I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date. I ‘died’ during my first trip. In my trips, I’ve seen that death is beautiful. Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep.”
