By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Minneapolis, Minnesota (September 6th, 2021)– At Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on a nine bout card on Sunday, September 5, 2021, Marco “Madman” Hernandez scored a minor upset on Labor Day Weekend 2021 with a ten round decision upset over previously undefeated Juan Armando “Toro” Resendiz.

Hernandez, 15-4-3 with two knockouts, Fresno, California, had won only won one of his last five bouts against upper level opposition, but every dog has his day. In round two, Resendiz, now 12-1 with eight knockouts, Compostela, Mexico, landed a solid left hook to the liver of Hernandez. In reply, Hernandez counter with a spitfire lightning fast left jab which sent an off balance Resendiz stumbling forward through the ropes, and to the canvas for an official knockdown in the second round. The lucky 10-8 round in an otherwise close bout gave Hernandez the upset on the three scorecards. Hernandez used left hooks and uppercuts to just outwork the jab and right hands of Resendiz.

Hernandez landed 132 of 394 punches, a 1 in 3 punches landed ratio, which was just enough to defeat Resendiz, who landed 128 of 507 punches, a 1 in 4 punches landed ratio.
