Crazy Dante Jardon KOs Tomlinson in Sheffield Main Event Shocker!
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Sheffield, UK (August 29th, 2021)– Mexico City Welterweight “Crazy” Dante Jardon scored a crazy upset in the main event of an eight bout card at Ponds Forge Arena in Sheffield, United Kingdom, Friday, August 27, 2021, knocking out 13-0 previously undefeated Sheffield Yorkshire hometown favorite Anthony Tomlinson. Tomlinson landed a vicious overhand right to the head which sent Tomlinson backwards off the ropes on his back, unable to beat the ten count.
Jardon, 34-7 with 25 knockouts, Mexico City, Mexico, won the vacant International Boxing Organization Inter-Continental World Welterweight title with the upset. Jardan has won eight of ten bouts which have reached the ninth round or longer by knockout or decision without being stopped in these rounds, a statistic spelling doom for Tomlinson after he proved unable to put the more experienced 40 pro bouts Mexican veteran Jardon away.
Tomlinson was facing his first foreign fighter, and fighter of vast experience. Jardon did his homework and did the work, and did not leave the British scorecards to chance on foreign soil. Mexicans have won in Great Britain before on the cards, but it’s always better to finish you opponent off rather than leave the scorecards to chance. Tomlinson really slowed down the last two rounds, was going toe-to-toe but was getting hit with head power shots reigning in. Not all of them scored, but many of them by Jardon did, more than enough to do damage to a fighter unable to hold and unwilling to run.
Result: Dante Jardon KO 9 Anthony Tomlinson, Welterweights (1:25)
