Hollywood, FL (January 3oth, 2021)– A visibly obese interim World Boxing Association World Heavyweight champion Trevor “Dream” Bryan won the full regular version of the WBA World Heavyweight title with an eleventh round stoppage of former world heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne, a late substitute for Manuel Charr (inactive since 2017, unable to get a P1 travel visa for the bout). The bout was the main event of a three bouts card at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on Friday, January 29, 2021. No fans were in attendance.
A loser of four of his last five bouts in the past six years, including losing three world title bouts including this one, and a fourth loss to a former Olympic Gold medalist Joe Joyce, Stiverne, age 42, 25-5-1 with 21 knockouts, La Vegas, Nevada by way, of Haiti, should call it a career. Bryan, age 31, 21-0 with 15 knockouts, Pompano Beach, Florida, inactive since 2018, has yet to fight a significant name opponent or contender under promoter Don King. However, Bryan was able to use an overhand right hand following an accurate left jab to drop Stiverne twice in the eleventh round. Stiverne, who held his hands low most of the bout and swung for bombs, landed some bombs on occasion, and appeared in condition, but when Stiverne went down when he got up his legs were gone.
Whether Bryan would be game enough to step into the ring with Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Alexander Povetkin, Mike Hunter, Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder, Andy Ruiz, Robert Helenius, Adam Kownacki, Gerald Washington, Efe Akagba, Kubray Pulev, Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, Luis Ortiz, Charles Martin, Filip Hrgovic, Manuel Charr, in other words any of the top name heavyweights-remains to be seen. Don King shelfs his fighters like Bryan, Stiverne, and Guillermo Jones, and anytime a fighter signed with Don King gets moved and actually appears inside the ring, it is an absolute rarity these days.
