Biggest Boxing Upsets of October 2020

Big names and small names scored some improbable upset performances in the world of professional boxing in October 2020. Spectators or not, here are some of the ‘Rocky’ results, which decidedly were NOT expected to occur.

Upset result number one: Custio Clayton Majority Draw 12 Sergey Lipinets

Interim International Boxing Federaiton World Welterweight title

18-0-1 Canadian welterweight prospect Clayton came down from junior middleweight, while 16-1-1 Kazakhstan fighter Lipinets came up from junior welterweight after losing a decision to Mikey Garcia. The magnificent counterpuncher Clayton scored 115-113 on the scorecard of noted judge Don Trella, and 114-114, 114-114 on the other two judges’ cards.




Upset number two: Robin Krasniqi KO 3 Dominic Boesel (2:225)

Krasniqi won Interim World Boxing Association World Kight Heavyweight title

Krasniqi Won International Boxing Organization World Light Heavyweight title

In an Albania versus Germany battle, Munich 51-6 veteran (by way of Kosovo) Robin Krasniqi knocked out Freyburg’s 30-2 Dominic Boesel cleanly. Krasniqi, who hits hard with a solid chin, has a resume which includes losses to Juergen Brahmer and Arthur Abraham, the right kind of hard ring experience Boesel simply was not prepared for.




Upset result number three: Dilan Prasovic TKO 9 Edin Puhalo, Cruiserweights (2:00)

14-0 Montenegro prospect Prasovic exposed Serbia’s 19-0 Edin Puhalo by stopping him.

Upset result number four: Justis Huni (Pro Debut) TKO 7 Faiga Opelu, Heavyweights (1:21)

Huni wins Australian Heavyweight title

Future WBC World Heavyweight champion Oleg Maskev knocked out 21-0 Alexander Miroshnichenko is pro debut. 13-1-1 Opelu’s corner threw in the towel, didn’t win a round.

Honorable Mention: Pedro Guilherme Dos Santos Win Split Decision 6, Super Lightweights. In Brazil, 3-2-2 Dos Santos, age 19, exposes Uruguay’s 6-0 Jose Acevedo.
