Tyson vs. Briggs

Mike Tyson vs. Shannon Briggs In The Works?

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Brooklyn, NY (May 19th, 2020)– In the era of numerous proposed Novel Coronavirus charity exhibition comebacks, so many heavyweight names have been thrown into the hat intending to return to the ring for a charity that boxing fans are beginning to wonder who will be next to return against whom, and where. Mike Tyson? Evander Holyfield?

Boxing fans will wonder no more. The game gets considerably more interesting now.

Former lineal and World Boxing Organization World Heavyweight champion Shannon ‘The Cannon’ Briggs, age 48, 60-6-1 with 53 knockouts, Brooklyn, New York, inactive for four years, claims he will return soon to fight Iron Mike Tyson in a charity exhibition.

On social media with a boxing fan, Briggs stated “I just talked to Mike Tyson! It’s going down! It’s official. You’re going to see it happen! Brownsville versus Brownsville. Me and Tyson are gonna lace up the gloves. We’re going to rumble. Rumble in the jungle! We’re going to let our fists do the talking!”

What about the financial considerations?

“The money is there……………the money is almost there. I can’t say how much. I’ll leave it at that. This is for charity. This is (will be) an exhibition (bout). I want people to understand (that). We all (both) know it’s (will be) an exhibition, and then we will see what’s left in the (our) tank. It’s for charity. It will be fun….but this is Mike Tyson we’re talking about. He naturally hits hard. So, he might hit me, and he might break my rib. We have to be fully prepared.”

It remains to be seen if all of these ring rusty dinosaurs are returning to the ring for free. The cause may be good, even if their boxing form leaves much to be desired at this point. Everybody wants a piece of Tyson. Perhaps much of the oddball Jones publicity is precisely what professional boxing needs to jump start itself again in the Summer 2020 and Fall 2020. Under the pandemic circumstances of odd, everyone and anything goes. Will all of these so-called comebacks be allowed, where and when? It is all good publicity, but social isolation remains the established norm for the moment.
