Shields vs. Ali

She Bee Stingin’T-Rex! If Money is Right Laila Ali Says She’ll Fight Claressa Shields

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Las Vegas, NV (February 28th, 2020)– Retired former World Female Super Middleweight champion Laila ‘She Bee Stingin’ Ali, age 42, Muhammad Ali’s daughter, retired since 2007, 24-0 with 21 knockouts, Los Angeles, California, a winner of 11 consecutive world title bouts, says if the money if right she will come out of retirement to fight trash talking Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields, who has called her out.

Three division world champion Shields, 10-0 with two knockouts, age 24, Flint, Michigan, has only a 20 percent ratio to Ali’s stinging 88% knockout ratio. Shields, who came down progressively from super middleweight to middleweight to super welterweight, will probably have to go up in weight to fight Ali if the female super bout between the two undefeated female world champions takes place.

The proposed Ali versus Shields super bout-and the trash talk leading up to it-already has all the hallmarks of Muhammad Ali versus Smokin’ Joe Frazier at Madison Square Garden in 1970.

In a recent interview on ESPN, Ali said she was willing to fight Shields to silence the bicker banter of trash talk which has not stopped. “Of course (I’ll fight her), especially (because of her) that mouth. When it’s personal that starts a fire, right? And, when the money’s right and it makes sense, then why not? She’s been calling me out. She’s taken offense to some things I’ve said in the past that had nothing to do with her. People are asking me, would you (I) come back? Well, I have to be inspired by the opponent. I have to be inspired by the purse (money involved in fighting Shields), because I have multiple things going on, multiple streams of income. I don’t need to do it. I have to want to do it.”

Shields answered the Laila Ali rant with “I’m gonna walk through Laila Ali! I’m gonna hurt her! I’m tired of the talking and her hating! Fight me (Laila)! I’m gonna show her why they call me the GWOAT! Let’s go!”

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee, in 2020 it’s gonna be Claressa Shields versus Laila Ali! Wherever there’s a bee, bees love that honey, a ring dinosaur for T-Rex, if a promoter shows both women the money. It’s that simple.
