By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Lebanon, PA (January 3, 2020)– Promoter Julio Alvarez, NBC and LWSC Promotions and matchmaker Mike Melendez will present an exciting eight-bout card of amateur and professional boxing entitled New Year’s Blast at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, will take place on Saturday evening, January 4, 2020, and will be covered by Real Combat Media.
Five amateur fights will open the Pro-Am card. Three professional bouts will be featured. In the super welterweight main event, Nicolas Hernandez, 10-4-1, two knockouts, Reading, Pennsylvania, will face undefeated prospect Rance Ward, 4-0 with two knockouts, Houma, Louisiana, a boxer with an MMA background, in a scheduled six-rounder for the Universal Boxing Federation Northeast Regional Junior Middleweight title. Hernandez, who has vast amateur and professional experience, is predicted to win by six-round unanimous decision in a bout which could be closer than expected.
In the two bouts on the undercard, 5-13-5 super welterweight traveler James ‘Thunder’ Robinson, York, Pennsylvania, will face 3-9 Puerto Rican southpaw journeyman Luis ‘Yeye’ Rodriguez in a four-rounder. Six of Rodriguez’ opponents were 29-0 when he fought them, and he went the distance with four of them, so he has been tested. Robinson’s travels include a six-round decision loss to world-ranked welterweight contender Anthony ‘Juice’ Young, and a six-round draw with undefeated prospect Fred Wilson Jr. Debuting southpaw Corey Lopez from Altoona, Pennsylvania, will face debuting welterweight Kenya Rainey of Forest Park, Illinois in a four-rounder.
