Night of Knockouts XVIII: Duerr vs. Obregon NABF Title Detroit CLIP Motor City Card

Taylor ‘Machine Gun’ Duerr will fight his second consecutive World Boxing Council regional title bout against Neller Obregon in the main event of an eight-bout Carlos Llinas CLIP Promotions boxing card on Night of Knockouts XVII, on Friday evening, November 22, 2019, at Soundboard Club of MotorCity Casino, in Detroit, Michigan. Duerr, 9-0-2 with seven knockouts, Detroit, Michigan, will face Obregon, 13-2-1 with eight knockouts, Baytown, Texas, by way of Columbia, for the vacant North American Boxing Federation Junior Light Heavyweight title. Obregon has won and lost eight-round split decisions during his career, while Duerr is coming off a 10 round draw with Lyubomyr Pinchuk of Ukraine in his last bout at MotorCity Casino this past June 2019. Duerr is favored to win by stoppage anytime in six or seven rounds. The bout could go eight rounds in Duerr’s favor, if Obregon decides to make a survivor type fight of it.

 

In the preliminary to the main event, Detroit middleweight southpaw Daryl Cunningham, 42-9 with 18 knockouts, will face journeyman veteran Angel Hernandez, 17-20-1 with 13 knockouts, Gary, Indiana, in a six-rounder. If Cunningham, age 45, wins, it will be his tenth consecutive win, all at MotorCity Casino. Cunningham is predicted to win by a six-round unanimous or majority decision.

 

The undercard will feature seven preliminary four rounders. 1-0 cruiserweight Derick Miller Jr. of Monroe, Michigan, will face debuting Jesse Walthers of Holland, Michigan.  Detroit super welterweight Andre Murray Jr. will face 1-3 Jared Chauvin of Redford, Michigan. Welterweight prospect Jacob Bonas, 4-0-1 with two knockouts, Bellville, Michigan, will face Noah Kidd, 4-2-1 with three knockouts, Jefferson City, Missouri. Welterweight Kenyell Rouser of Rochester, Michigan, will face 3-4 Edward Guinn of Kansas City, Missouri. Lightweight Alexander Lewis of Ypsilanti, Michigan, will debut against 0-2 Allen Melson of Houston, Texas. Female super lightweight Nicole Reinhart, 1-0, is also scheduled to appear in a women’s four-rounder (two-minute rounds).

 

Doors at Sound Board MotorCity Casino open on Friday evening, November 22, 2019, will open at 6:30 P.M., first bout at 7:00 P.M., 2901 Grand River Avenue, Detroit, Michigan. Tickets for the Night of Knockouts XVII event are available at $40 to $80 the event is sold out.  guests must be 21 years old or older with photo ID.
