
Bahamas Tureano Johnson Upsets Jason Quigley, Wins NABF Middleweight Title

Indio, CA (July 19th, 2019)– Unheralded Tureano Johnson of The Bahamas, 21-2-1 with 15 knockouts, scored an unexpected upset stoppage of 16-0 Jason Quigley of Laghy, Ireland, to win the North American Boxing Federation Middleweight title at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, on July 18, 2019, Golden Boy DAZN Thursday Night Fights.
Quigley’s second defense of his NABF Middleweight belt took nine rounds to disintegrate to ‘Quigley Down Under’ thought this Quigley lived to tell the tale on his stool. His corner stopped the bout before the start of round 10.
Quigley’s jab won the first two rounds. From that point on, Johnson won rounds on the volume of punches thrown, unloading power shots and hooks with both hands with power. Quigley’s punches had nothing behind them. Quigley, cut over the right eye and tiring, was counter by Johnson with power shots to the head. Johnson’s head and body shots eventually broke Quigley down. When Quigley did not answer the bell, in California it is recorded as an automatic knockout.
