
THIS FRIDAY LEBRON VS. SÁNCHEZ 2 IN “A PUÑO LIMPIO”, RUBÉN ZAYAS MONTAÑEZ COLISEUM IN TRUJILLO ALTO, PUERTO RICO
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO- The moment that many expected arrived. Bernard “Bimbo” Lebrón and Antonio Sánchez will finally meet again on the ring this Friday, October 26, when they face in their coveted rematch in the new edition of “A Puño Limpio” at the Rubén Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, in a presentation of PR Best Boxing Promotions (PRBBP) in association with Spartan Boxing, which will be broadcast by Wapa Deportes.
“This third edition of “A Puño Limpio” promises to be a great event. The first two have been a tremendous success. We have no doubt that this series is here to stay, it is the way for the young boxers to make themselves known,” said Iván Rivera, president of PRBBP.
The mayor of Trujillo Alto, José Luis Cruz Cruz, meanwhile, was enthusiastic about the third “A Puño Limpio” bill that will be held in his city stating that “the first two shows have been a success and the third edition of this season it will not be the exception, we invite the public to meet the new boxing headquarters in Puerto Rico, our Coliseum, to witness a real sports show in Trujillo Alto.”
The first time Bimbo Lebron (10-1, 4 kos) and Antonio Sanchez (5-5-2, 3 kos) fought the brawl went to the distance of the eight rounds and the decision was unanimous but close to Lebron, 76-75 (the three judges), making clear the closeness of it. In that match, Lebrón suffered a cut in one eye and hurt an ankle, while Sanchez went to the canvas once, which practically decided the fight. In the rematch, Lebron and Sanchez will fight 10 rounds in 140 pounds.
“You saw the first fight, it was an excellent fight, I twisted my ankle in the first round and we had to change the fight plan, this time we came well, to fight the 10 rounds, we are well trained to give the 10 rounds. Come on, it’s going to be a mega fight, as soon as they told me about the rematch, I accepted it because it was a great fight, Tony gave me a hard fight for the eight rounds,” said Lebrón.
Meanwhile, Sanchez, who is trained by former world champion Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderón, said “I’m prepared, thanks to my team, you saw the first fight, it was a great fight. I come positive this Friday, confident to come out with the victory, I hope he comes to fight and he does not go to run the last rounds.”
The rest of the card have in six rounds scheduled bouts, John “La Bestia” Correa (5-0, 5 kos) facing Mexican veteran Daniel Echevarría (19-6, 17 kos) in 152 pounds, and to the same distance Jonathan López (3- 0, 3 kos) will face the also experienced Mexican Jonathan Lecona (17-22-4, 6 kos) at 118 pounds.
In four round bouts, Bryan Lopez (1-0, 1 kos) will fight against Luis Enrique Rivera (1-1, 1 kos) at 130 pounds; Alfredo “Salsero” Cruz (1-0, 1 kos) will face debutant Jesús Martínez at 115 pounds; Yasiel Ortiz (1-0) will battle Michael Estrada (0-2) at 130 pounds, and debutants Ángel Marrero and Nisk Steven will face in 140 pounds.
The series “A Puño Limpio”, in its first part, took place between 2011 and 2012 with shows around Puerto Rico, and had in action fighters like the current world champion Emmanuel “Manny” Rodríguez (in his debut), former world champion Manuel Alejandro “Manny” Siaca, later world champion McJoe Arroyo, as well as future world challengers McWilliams Arroyo, Jonathan Oquendo, José “Chelo” González and David Quijano, and then prospect Jonathan “Bomba “González, among others.
The upcoming “A Puño Limpio” dates at the Rubén Zayas Montañez Coliseum in Trujillo Alto in 2018 will be on November 16 and December 7.
