CANELO ALVAREZ VS. GENNADY GOLOVKIN 2 WEIGH-IN, PRESS CONFERENCE, PREVIEW, ODDS & PREDICTIONS
By Eliezer Garcia, Real Combat Media Tri-State Correspondent
Las Vegas, NV– A year ago today the Boxing world witness a classic battle for supremacy, between the middleweight kings Saul Canelo Alvarez (48-1-2, 34 KOs) and Gennady GGG Golovkin (38-0-1, 34 KOs). The fight it self-delivered as promised, the fighters delivered, but the end results left the world hungry for more. All but the judges at ringside saw the fight in favor of Gennady Golovkin. 12 brutal rounds were not enough to determine who should be crowned the middleweight king.
The rematch was originally scheduled for May, when Saul Alvarez tested positive for Clenbuterol found in his system. The Nevada state athletic commission ordered to suspended Canelo for 6 months and the rematch was immediately canceled. Since then Golovkin’s camp has openly expressed their issue with Canel’s test results. Accusing the fighter of cheating and not being respectful of the sport. The two camps went from having mutual respect for each other to bitter rivals.
Now one year later, we find ourselves awaiting another encounter with the two middleweight kings. Two equally match fighters from different backgrounds, with a similar taste for vengeance, both with a mutual understanding that their fate of the outcome relies in their hands and not the judges. During the final press conference, The traditional press conference face-off was not performed. Almost as if both fighters agree, there was no need for it and the only thing that matters in this present moment is Saturday night.
The HBO PPV Broadcast begins at 8pm ET/5:00pm with 3 action-packed undercard fights. Roman Gonzalez (46-2, 38KOs) vs Moises Fuentes (25-5-1, 14 Kos) 10 rounds Super Flyweight bout.
