Upset! 12-5 Filipino Journeyman Rambo Lagos Kayos 15-0 Emilio Sanchez

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Indio, California (March 23rd, 2018)– On Thursday, March 22, 2018, on a seven-bout card at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, 15-0 super bantamweight prospect Emilio Sanchez of North Hollywood, California, got knocked out on his back by a picture perfect right hook thrown by 12-5-3 Filipino journeyman Eugene ‘Rambo’ Lagos of Valencia City, Philippines.

Sanchez has a two of every three knockout ratio in his pro career with his 10 knockouts. However, Lagos has a greater than 60% knockout ratio in fighters he wins, or three of every five of his wins has ended by the knockout route. This statistic was apparently overlooked by the Sanchez camp. Lagos pressured Sanchez, backing him up throughout. Sanchez could not seem to make up his mind to fight Lagos either in center ring or off the ropes. Much like Juan Kid Meza versus Jaime Garza years ago, Sanchez hung a low lazy left which left him open to a pinpoint left hook power counter. In close, ‘Rambo’ timed it perfectly, sending Sanchez onto his back, out cold for the ten count.

Result: Eugene Lagos KO 2 Emilio Sanchez, Super Bantamweights (0:35)

15-0 Sanchez hit by picture-perfect right hook, was counted out on his back
