Who is Junlong Zhang, the so-called ‘Dragon King’ from Quindao, China?
As mainland Chinese boxers rise up into the boxing mainstream, with the possibility of a mega fan base following their accomplishments and achievements, 19-0 Junlong Zhang has knocked out every opponent he has yet faced. The Quigdao southpaw turned pro in 2012, and has finished off all of his opponents in the first or second round by knockout or stoppage. Zhang holds the World Boxing Association Oceania Heavyweight title and has defended it six times.
Zhang remains an unknown commodity, a theoretical top 20 heavyweight as yet untested against main event opposition. Zhang holds the possibility of drawing hundreds of millions of fans among the largely untapped Chinese viewership. Chinese fighters have begun to rise up, and still have much to accomplish. Zhang is probably the most underrated fighter out there, and his potential remains a question mark. However, Zhang is worth a great deal of money if he continues to improve. No Chinese fighter has every fought for a world heavyweight championship, and that in itself would be fascinating if Zhang gets there.
