Heavyweight Tomasz Adamek in Last Chance Do or Die Fight With Fred Kassi on Nov. 18
By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent
Jersey City, NJ (November 1st, 2017)– In a career which began in 1999, Tomasz Adamek of Poland, 51-5 with 30 knockouts, Jersey City, New Jersey, has placed himself in a do or die situation for one more shot at any of the paper heavyweight world titles. Adamek, 40, coming off a 10 round decision over Solomon Haumono this past June, but a winner of only two of his last five bouts, will face the dangerous Big Fred Kassi, 18-6-1, with 10 knockouts from New Orleans, Louisiana.
Kassi is a trial horse with an impressive list of recent foes, including a draw with Chris Arreola, and other bouts with Dominic Breazeale, Hughie Fury, Jarrell Miller and Amir Mansour. Kassi, 38, has been inactive for over a year. That point should give Adamek a slight edge.
On November 8, 2017, in Czestochowa, Poland, Adamek will face Kassi in a 10 rounder for the vacant Republic of Poland International heavyweight title. Adamek is predicted to win by 10 round decision. It will not be an easy fight even with home country ethnic advantage. Kassi hits hard and will come to win for sure. This type of fight, Adamek probably has one good bout left in the tank. Beyond that, Adamek, once promoted high and bright as a cruiserweight and heavyweight, remains uncertain. Adamek is disciplined, but at 6’1 ½” in height and 223 or so pounds, Adamek remains too small for the likes of Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Luis Ortiz, Hughie Fury and Joseph Parker. He can try if he wants too, but in this reporter’s view, Adamek was still best as cruiserweight champion, and is closer in description to a junior heavyweight or super cruiserweight in the 190 to 225-pound range. Heavyweight, of course, is where the big money is only found.
