WBO Miguel Cotto Title Bout: Sadam Ali Gets World Kid Opportunity of a Lifetime

Editorial By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Sadam ‘World Kid’ Ali of Brooklyn, New York, has received the opportunity of a lifetime. 25-1 with 14 knockouts, Sadam will fight Miguel Cotto on December 2, 2017, for Cotto’s WBO World Super Welterweight title at Madison Square Garden. Sadam has height and reach advantage. Cotto will come forward to get inside immediately, and Sadam’s defense will have to go through a difficult time to stand toe to toe with Miguel.

Sadam Ali has fought once above 147 pounds, scoring a third round knockout over Jorge Silva in California this past January 2017 at Fantasy Springs Casino in California. That experience will not be enough for Sadam to overcome Cotto. Sadam has one lone loss, to Jessie Vargas, a ninth round stoppage in 2016 at the DC Armory in Washington, D.C.

Sadam Ali has three things going against him. One, he lacks world class experience. Two, he lacks experience in the 154 pound super welterweight class. Three, Cotto, 41-5 with 33 knockouts, Caguas, Puerto Rico, has handpicked Sadam Ali as his opponent. Cotto will be 38 to Sadam Ali’s 29 years of age. Cotto has too much experience at the world class level for Sadam Ali to overcome. Cotto is predicted to win by 12 round decision or late round stoppage in what should prove to be an exciting matchup and highly competitive bout. Opportunity wise, Sadam Ali will never get a better payday and a better chance to win. This reporter expects him to make the most of his opportunity bout, but does not expect him to surprise the experts.
