James Kirkland Fractures His Nose and Fight With Miguel Cotto is Postponed

Houston, Texas (February 2nd, 2017)– Miguel Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs) was scheduled to face James Kirkland (32-2 28 KOs) on February 25th at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, but according to Cotto’s team the upcoming HBO Pay-Per-View event is going to be postponed. Roc Nation says the injury is a fractured nose.

Cotto has not fought since losing the WBC middleweight title to Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on November 21, 2015. Kirkland has not fought since May of 2015 when Canelo knocked him out in 3 rounds. Kirkland’s last win was in December of 2013 when stopped and hospitalized Glen Tapia. Cotto’s last win was June of 2015 when knocked out Daniel Geale.

Since them Kirkland has brought back his old trainer, Ann Wolfe. Kirkland has never lost a fight with the guidance of Wolfe.
