Adrien Broner’s Friends Call Police After Possible Suicide Threats

By TMZ Sports

Los Angeles, CA (October 12th, 2016)– Adrien Broner’s close friends are worried he may kill himself — and have contacted police to check in on the boxer after he went to social media and strongly implied he was going to take his own life.

Broner began posting early Wednesday morning — apologizing to his family and friends and saying, “I don’t want to be here no more this s**t too much.”

He then posted a photo of a handgun inside of a vehicle and wrote, “I’m going home I love y’all.”

We tried to reaching out to Broner to no avail — but several of his friends told us they’re extremely concerned and at least one friend says he’s contacted police to help.

This recent turn of events comes on the back of a deal being practically finalized for Broner to challenge WBA junior welterweight champion Ricky Burns, on a February date in Las Vegas.

Broner has been inactive since a ninth-round stoppage win over Ashley Theophane in April. The fight with Theophane was originally a defense of the WBA championship. Broner was unable to make the 140-pound limit and lost his title on the scale. Burns then captured that vacant title.

“I’d say it’s 99% certain the fight against Broner in Las Vegas will go ahead,” Burns’ manager Alex Morrision told STV. “We are in on-going negotiations with Broner’s camp. It’s likely to take place in February, as yet a venue to be identified.”

“Ricky could receive a life-changing amount of money with his fight and I’m confident he’ll retain his title,” he said. “He’s not going there to sell his title. He’ll be going there to retain it. I think he showed on Friday he’s capable of beating anyone.”
