REAL COMBAT MEDIA UK: ANTHONY CROLLA VS JORGE LINARES PREVIEW and FIGHT ANALYSIS:
Manchester, UK, (24th of September 2016)–This Saturday on the 24th of September 2016, Manchester’s Anthony Crolla will clash with Venezuelan hotshot Jorge Linares in a mouthwatering unification world title fight which is a real pick-em fight between two experienced world level competitors who are putting it all on the line in a 50-50 throwback fight which will determine who is likely to become the undisputed king of the lightweight division after the dust settles. Anthony Crolla’s last three opponents were Ismael Barroso and two back to back fights with Darley Perez. Crolla knocked out Barroso in the 7th round in an impressive showing his last fight. Jorge Linares last three opponents were Ivan Cano, Kevin Mitchell and Javier Prieto. And Linares routinely knocked out Prieto in the 4th round in his last fight.
Anthony Crolla (31-4-3, 13 Knockout’s) Key’s to Victory:
This is a very winnable fight for Crolla, he must apply pressure to Linares to wear down the more athletically gifted fighter. He must apply the pressure like he did too Ismael Barroso and have a high guard while applying gradual but consistent pressure. He must mix up attacks to the body and head, and try to land as many of his trademark left hooks to the body as possible. He must make Linares uncomfortable by using some roughhouse tactics, and try to give some feints and different angles to keep Linares guessing. By the second half of the fight Crolla’s consistent work to the body should have slowed Linares down and made him slightly drop his hands, this is when Crolla can mix up between body and head even more. Crolla must intensify his pressure at this point from the 6th round onwards and break down Linares en-suite to a 12 round unanimous decision, or to a earlier stoppage or a Technical Knockout (TKO) victory. This outcome is very likely as all of Linares losses were TKO losses.
Jorge Linares (40-3-0, 27 Knockout’s) Key’s to Victory:
Jorge Linares has the natural athleticism and supreme boxing ability to give a breakout boxing virtuoso performance against Crolla, and outbox him to a 12 round unanimous decision. Linares must outbox Crolla but have a in-and-out movement within the fight. Darting in and out and throwing his combination’s in the pocket and then getting out of range before Crolla can counter him. Jorge must give feint’s, angles and change level’s mixing up combinations to the body and head, while defending very well. Linare’s must also mix up attacks and sometime’s push Crolla back to get his respect, or a pressure fighter like Crolla will just relentlessly stalk him and not stop coming forward. After out-boxing and out-maneuvering Crolla in the earlier rounds, Linares must continue to apply his great movement, but he must start countering Crolla with more ferocity as this is when Crolla start’s applying serious pressure. Linare’s must out-box and keep himself sheltered with a tight defense particularly covering his body too prevent Crolla’s relentless bodywork from slowing him down. After successfully countering, moving and befuddling Crolla with angles, Linares can successfully coast too a 12 round unanimous decision. This outcome is again very likely as 3 out of 4 of Crolla’s losses were decision losses, so a world class talent like Linares could pull off the decision win.
My Prediction for the fight:
I believe this will be a very close fight, with both fighter’s having their moment’s with close to mid-range counter’s from both fighters. Linares will show fleet footwork and adept reflexes with plenty of feint’s and swift counters, winning most of the earlier rounds making Crolla look pedestrian at times but Crolla will patiently pressure and mix in attacks to the head and body trying to land his trademark left hooks to the body. As the rounds go on Crolla will start to pressure under a high guard with more pressure. Eventually through to the championship rounds (rounds 10 to 12 etc) Crolla will break down Linare’s with body-shot’s and consistent pressure. I believe Crolla will win a close Unanimous decision or may even technically knockout Linares in an entertaining and closely matched tactical fight.
