Trenton, NJ (July 11th, 2016)– In the main event of a seven bout ESPN card promoted by Premier Boxing Champions and King’s Promotions at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, New Jersey, on Saturday evening, July 9, 2016, super featherweight Mario ‘Golden Boy’ Barrios of San Antonio, Texas, won a 12 round decision over Devis Boschiero of Veneto, Italy, in an International Boxing Federation eliminator bout to determine the next challenger for Jose ‘The Sniper’ Pedraza of Puerto Rico, the current IBF 130 pound world champion.

Barrios, now 16-0, eight knockouts, at six feet tall, had a five and a half inch height advantage, and with a 74 inch reach had a six inch reach advantage. Boschiero’s game was to work his way inside, but his corner strangely told him to back off the game plan. Barrios jabbed away from the outside, and Boschiero took it for 12 rounds, save a rare occasion when Barrios was briefly caught on the ropes here and there. The crowded booed the lopsided televised affair throughout. The only interesting moment came in the 12th round, when Barrios landed a left uppercut which dropped Boschiero, who beat the count. Barrios then let his hands go, forcing the shorter and smaller Boschiero to fight for his life to survive. Boschiero went toe to toe with Barrios, and both parties exchanged some wild and wicked power shots as the bout closed out. Somehow Boschiero survived, with both combatants swinging to the final bell.

Results: Mario Barrios Win 12 Devis Boschiero, Super Featherweights

IBF Featherweight Elimination Bout. Boschiero was down in the twelfth round.

Scoring: 120-107, 120-107, and 120-107 for Barrios.. Referee: Allen Huggins

In an exciting walkout bout after the ESPN televised portion of the card ended, junior welterweight Tyrone Crawley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, won a six round slugfest over Alexander Charneco of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Crawley, 7-0, and Charneco, 4-3, forgot to have a defense, and spent all seven rounds throwing home run bombs, much to the delight of the Trenton crowd. It was raw boxing in the tradition of George Foreman versus Ron Lyle, a crazy slugfest the way the boxing fans like it.

Sun Nation Bank Center in Mercer County is located in an old industrial area of abandoned steel warehouses in old downtown Trenton, New Jersey, warehouses which manufactured the steel to build the Brooklyn Bridge. Designed by John Augustus Roebling in 1969, the year he died, the Brooklyn Bridge was completed in 1883. The abandoned historic warehouse surround the new events center, a symbol of America’s past and perhaps to be renovated into something meaningful in the future.
