ADRIEN BRONER SENT BACK TO JAIL

CINCINNATI, OH (July 19th, 2016)– (WKRC) – Boxer Adrien Broner will spend thirty days in jail in contempt of court, after he failed to show up for his trial on July 19, telling him “the world doesn’t revolve around you”. Broner was to be tried on charges of felonious assault and aggravated robbery.

Police say Broner pointed a gun at a man during a betting dispute, then knocked him unconscious at Madison Bowl back in January. One of Broner’s friends videotaped the incident. Broner has been been out on bail since he turned himself in on April 4.

When Broner didn’t show up to court, Judge Robert Ruehlman ordered his attorney to get into court. When Broner did appear in the afternoon, he said he had been sick and that someone “put something in his drink”.

Judge Reuhlman said Broner might have had his case dismissed had he shown up. He said Broner’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss and the judge may have granted it because the state’s witness didn’t show.

“You’re not ducking this one”, Ruehlman told him as he ordered him held on 30 days and revoked his bond. He said he’d keep an open mind when Broner’s attorney said his mother put up the bond.

Broner will return to court on August 17.
