LARA VS. ZAVECK RINGSIDE RECAP

Miami, Florida (November 27th, 2015)– Mother Nature dominated the action for the entire night of boxing. For the first time in history, there was a time delay due to rain in Boxing! Let’s have televised Professional Boxing outside in Miami at night with no protection from the elements. Great idea, NOT!!! It rained for most of the evening which thwarted the effort of the many red Sham-Wow’s and leaf blowers trying to dissipate the rain. As we say in Boxing, nothing is unexpected, “It’s Boxing!” Except the Lara win! That was expected! That was a double negative, oh well!
As previously anticipated Cuban Super Star & WBA/IBO World Super Welterweight Champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (22-2-2, 13 KOs) annihilated DeJan “Jan” Zaveck (35-4-0, 19 KOs) by TKO stoppage as Zaveck waived to the ref to stop the fight on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on ESPN Wednesday, November 25 in Hialeah Park with everyone in the House chanting CUBA, CUBA, CUBA whilst the smell of cigars permeated the air with flags waving proudly.
I called a mismatch pre-fight and my prediction was justified. As previously stated in my Pre-Fight article, Lara annihilates Zaveck in his house…
Oddly, a fellow reporter asked who do I think will win…I said REALLY? with a side-eye glare? Press does not engage other press with such banter. Lara appeared for battle so fresh and so clean and Zaveck looked way past his prime! Lara beat him as easy as 1, 2, 3!! As I counted 1 ,2, 3; Lara barraged Zaveck masterfully, without exertion and with great ease and precision in the 1st round…Round 2 Lara continued to dominate although the rain and crowd pretty much obscured the action. The ref stopped the fight in the 3rd and called a TKO at 41 seconds whereby Zaveck called foul to the back of the dome to no avail. It appeared to be a legal hit to the head/neck which caused muscle spasms and pain to the shoulder. Boxing causes pain. I know, I box too!
On the Undercard which was haphazardly executed before and after the main event for “your viewing pleasure”:
Heavyweight John Wesley Nofire defeated Yasmany Consuegra by TKO at 2:59 in the 4th.
Super Welterweight Yudel Jhonson got dropped several times in the 1st before being stopped by KO by Daquan Arnett at 2:47 in the 1st round. Masterful performance by Arnett as Jhonson did not know what hit him.
Emmanuel Rodriquez was victorious against Elicer Aquino via TKO at 2:44 in the 7th round.
Super Lightweight Jose Quezada was victorious against Daniel Lorenzana via TKO in the 2nd.
Welterweight & Fort Lauderdale favorite Jeff Souffrant went the distance to emerge the winner via undisputed, unanimous decision against Gregory Moore.
No stats are available about Dennis Galarza vs. Juan Ramos Solis as I believe it is to be rescheduled.
Next time, I will be sure to check the Farmer’s Almanac regarding the weather so I can wear rain boots instead of heels and be sure to Valet and not park in the dirt. What a mess!
