Charles Hatley Decks Mundine Four Times, Scores TKO Win Down Under

By Robert Brizel, Head Real Combat Media Boxing Correspondent

Sydney, Australia (November 11th, 2015)– Charles Hatley was a forgotten fighter. After he got stopped in the first round by Lanardo Tyner some years ago, his career seemed forgettable. Sometimes a loss is salvation for a fighter, and for Hatley, who has fought from welterweight to super middleweight, his lone loss was a great wake up call. To go into Australia and take out one of the world ranked fighters is a near impossibility. Rarely-it does happen. Hats off to Hatley for his latest win.

Hatley, now 26-1-1 with 18 knockouts, Dallas, Texas, decked Tony Mundine three times in the second round. Hatley still had to come off the floor in the tenth round. The bout finally ended in the eleventh round, with Hatley decking Mundine again, then landing flurries to finish him as Mundine’s corner threw in the towel. The odds of Charles Hatley going into Australia and wining by KO or TKO were a zillion to one. Then again, you never know.

There’s talk about the 40 year old Mundine fighting a rematch in 2016 with Danny Green for a huge bucket of cash. If this performance was an indicator, Mundine seems to be a spent fighter, but money talks. Mundine falls to 47-7 with 27 knockouts, Sydney, Australia.

Result: Charles Hatley TKO 11 Anthony Mundine, Super Middleweights (1:32)

Hatley wins WBC Silver Super Welterweight title. Referee: Bruce McTavish

Mundine down three times in second round, and in eleventh round. Hatley down in tenth.
