World Series of Fighting 24 Foxwoods Preview

Mashantucket, CT (October 13, 2015)– On Saturday, October 17, 2015, World Series of Fighting 24 will present a 13 bout professional Mixed Martial Arts card at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, televised by NBC Sports in the United States, and Fight Network in Canada. WSOF 24 promises great action!

 

Jon Fitch, age 37, with a record of 26-7, out of the American Kickboxing Academy in Wayne, Indiana, will face 30-9 Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami, age 34, out of the Wajutsu Keishukai Tokyo in Kawasaki, Japan, in a crossroads middleweight co-main event.

 

In the other co-main event, Blagoy Ivanov, the 12-1 World Series of Fighting Heavyweight champion representing SK Absolute Bulgaria in Sofia, Bulgaria, will defend his world title against challenger 19-6 Derrick Mehmen of American Top Team, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in an exciting heavyweight confrontation.

 

In three other major bouts, Magomed Bibulatov, 9-0, a flyweight out of the MMA Factory in Grozny, Russia, faces Donavon Frelow, 5-0, of the Wand Fight Team in Las Vegas, Nevada. Vinny Magalhaes, 12-7, a light heavyweight with Syndicate MMA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, faces Matt Hamill, 11-5, of Loveland, Ohio. One-handed sensation Nick ‘Notorious’ Newell, 12-1, a lightweight out of the Fighting Arts Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts, faces Tom Marcellino, 7-3, out of Renzo Gracie Academy Latham, in Amsterdam, New York.

 

Eight preliminary bouts are featured on the card. Featherweight Rick ‘The Gladiator’ Glenn, 15-3-1, Roufousport Team, Marshalltown, Iowa, faces Adam Ward, 15-7, of the Gilbert Grappling Team, Chicago, Illinois.  Marcos Alexandre Campos de Almeida, 16-5, faces Saul Almeida, 18-5, of the Orion Fight Camp, Manaus, Brazil, faces Rodrigo Almeida, 18-2, Carlos Neto BJJ Team, Framingham, Massachusetts. Featherweight Rodrigo ‘The Young Lion’ Almeida, 12-2, Carlos Neto BJJ Team, Woburn, Massachusetts, faces Bruce ‘Pretty Boy’ Boyington of the Boyington Taekwondo Academy, 10-8, Bangor, Maine. Middleweight Justin Torrey, 7-1, of the Fighting Arts Academy, Springfield, Massachusetts, faces Rex Harris, 7-2, of World Class Boxing, West Pittston, Pennsylvania. Middleweight Louis Taylor, 11-3, Chicago Fight Team, Chicago, Illinois, faces Nicolai Salchov 5-0, of the University of Fighting, in Dusseldorf, Germany. Washington Nunes da Silva, 5-1, Renzo Gracie Academy Newburgh, of Recife, Brazil, faces Colton Smith 5-4, of the Vanguard Team, Manassas, Virginia. Heavyweight Patrick ‘The Beast of the East’ Walsh 6-2, Wai Kru MMA, West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, faces Tyler ‘The Marauder’ King 9-3, Connors MMA, North Attleboro, Massachusetts. Finally, heavyweight Juliano Coutinho, 6-2, Gracie Fitness, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, faces a challenger to be announced.
