Las Vegas, NV (September 13, 2015)– The science of boxing is oh so sweet. For nearly 20 years Floyd Mayweather has defined the true meaning of the sweet science of boxing. Saturday night, September 12th, the man known as Money laced up for what could be his final fight against Andre Berto.

History was on the line as Money Mayweather chased the record of Rocky Marciano to be the only American fighter to go 49-0. Andre Berto stood in the way of that Saturday night and Money May knew it. As he stated, “records were made to be broken…hopefully we can find the next Floyd Mayweather who can break the record.”

The matchup between Berto and Mayweather has been widely criticized around the world. Many felt Mayweather chose Berto as an easy fight to tie the record of Marciano. I beg to differ. Berto is a two-time former world champion and is a very good boxer that is very athletic.

From the opening bell Mayweather was more aggressive than usual. Displaying a stiff jab in the face of Berto for most of the night. You couldn’t tell that Mayweather is nearing 40 years old because of how sharp he looked in the fight. Berto showed flashes at times of making it a competitive fight, but flashes are not enough against Mayweather.

In the 4th round a straight right hand stunned Berto as he held on to Mayweather after taking the shot. Mayweather also did a great job at going to the body of Berto. Berto looked frustrated as he dealing with the quick hands of Mayweather. Money cruised to a one-sided unanimous decision. The judges at ringside scored the bout 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108 all in favor of Mayweather.

We witnessed the true greatness of a champion that won’t be appreciated until later in life, but for now Mayweather will walk away from the sport forever and I am glad I was there to cover “TBE (The Best Ever)”!!!!
