New York, NY (July 31st, 2015)– Garcia is making his move back to the 147lb welterweight division after winning multiple titles at 140lbs(Jr. Welterweight). Garcia’s last 2 bouts have been catchweight bouts against Lamont Peterson at 143lbs and Rod Salka at 142lbs. Garcia has expressed that he can no longer safely make the 140lb limit. Garcia has spent just 1/3 of his at 140lbs despite perception and in a recent interview Garcia stated that he’s much more comfortable because his training camp is not focused on losing weight but on learning and sharpening skills.
On July 22, 2015 Danny even went as far to say “I’m at 150lbs right now, I can make weight(147lbs) tomorrow if I need to”.
Garcia even stated that he plans on likely ending his career at 154lbs.
Malignaggi will not have seen ring action in 16 months once he steps into the ring on August 1st. Malignaggi last fought April 19, 2015 against Shawn “Showtime” Porter(26-1-1 16kos) in which he was dominated and TKO’d in just 4 rounds after receiving the most lopsided beating of his career. Many thought Malignaggi would retire.
Malignaggi was set return in May of 2015 on the undercard of Khan vs Algieri against relative unknown Danny O’Connor but suffered a cut above the eye in training camp.
Outside of boxing Malignaggi is a well known and respected commentator for Showtime, CBS, Fox Sports, and Sky Sports.
Upon research it was discovered that many fans see this as a 50/50 fight despite Malignaggi’s last bout and inactivity. Paulie does have a boxers chance but having being previously stopped in his career by Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, and Shawn Porter many are left wondering if he can hold his own against the strong younger Danny Garcia.

Now Mora will get a shot at the lesser of the WBA titles when he faces Jacobs whom last defended his title against Caleb Truax(25-2 15kos) in April of 2015.
